Santa Monica Pulse October 2025

In this month’s Santa Monica Pulse poll, we asked residents to weigh in on a new homeless facility opening on Ocean Avenue in October 2025. The response was resounding. Nearly 85 percent of respondents opposed this new facility, with almost 83 percent strongly opposing the facility. Just under 14 percent of respondents supported the new facility.

We also asked respondents their opinion on the City Council’s September decision to declare a state of “fiscal distress” in the face of a series of high city lawsuit payouts. Fewer than one in ten respondents thought that the declaration would help Santa Monica’s fiscal health. Two-third thought it would not help, and the remainder were unsure.

Finally, we asked respondents their opinion on California’s Proposition 50, which is on the ballot this November. Prop 50 would replace California’s current congressional map, drawn by California’s independent redistricting commission, with a new congressional map. 57 percent of respondents said they would vote “no” on Prop 50 and 32 percent said they would vote “yes.” Just over 10 percent were undecided, and one percent said they would not vote at all.
