In our latest Santa Monica Pulse poll, we asked residents about the City Council’s recently outlined plan to clean up the city’s public parks. According to a recent report, the city will increase police patrols in public parks and install cameras to monitor activity. When asked if they believed these efforts would help reduce homelessness in city parks in the long term, 46 percent of respondents said yes. About 30 percent said no and another 23 percent were unsure.
We also asked residents about a new coalition that is fighting to overturn two state laws that rezone single-family-only housing to allow for the development of duplexes and quadplexes. The coalition wants to overturn these laws through a ballot measure in 2024. When asked if they would support a ballot measure that overturns these laws, almost 46 percent of respondents said yes. Another 25 percent said no, and 18 percent were unsure.
Finally, Los Angeles County is pushing residents over six months old to get COVID-19 booster shots. We asked residents if they planned to get the booster shot. Just under six percent said they already got the shot, while 33 percent said they were planning to get it. 55 percent said they did not plan to get the shot, and just five percent said they weren’t sure.
